Funding for Indo-Finnish industrial technology R&D and innovation collaboration

Tekes and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India through Global Innovation and Technology Alliance (GITA), will jointly fund Indo-Finnish technology R&D and innovation cooperation.

Funding funding will be available for challenging industry-led R&D projects in the following themes:
 •Cleantech, especially waste management, clean water and energy efficiency
 •Smart cities
 •Affordable health solutions for elderly and differently abled
Growth market and an innovation hub

The Indian market is still growing today, and the country with 1,2 billion population offers a huge potential in various business sectors. India is, however, not only a country of many market opportunities but increasingly also a home for rapidly developing innovation hubs.
To encourage innovation cooperation between Finnish and Indian organisations, Tekes has already for several years collaborated with the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. Now Tekes has a new partner in the same ministry, i.e. Department of Science and Technology.
"This makes it possible for us to broaden the scope of collaboration also to themes outside biotechnology", says Auli Pere, the coordinator of Tekes' India operations.
In the present request for proposals the Indian funding will be channeled through the Global Innovation and Technology Alliance (GITA), a non-profit Public Private Partnership (PPP) company promoted jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science & Technology (DST).
