A Finnish-Ethiopian Aid for Trade and Business Forum was held in Addis Abeba on June 5, 2013. The aim of this forum was to strengthen the cooperation between Finnish and Ethiopian companies as well as embassies and major stakeholders. Further the forum aimed at promoting bilateral exports and trade.

Majority of the 81 attendees were Ethiopian business representatives, government officials, and representatives ofNGOs. The forum was opened by Finnish Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Anne Sipiläinen, Agriculture State Minister Seleshi Getahun, and the President of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce Mulu Solomon. Finnpartnership was also present at the forum and gave a presentation about business opportunities in Finland and presented its Matchmaking service.

Finnish companies can find business opportunities in Ethiopia especially in the fields of increasing the productivity of agriculture and production, production of water power, establishing production plants which turn waste into bioenergy, connection of networks (power, ICT) as well as sustainable forestry.

A Finnish company can apply for Business Partnership Support from Finnpartnership in order to investigate long-term business opportunities in Ethiopia, to pilot technology and solutions and/or to train local staff.
